	Presentation Past and present The administrative team of the Compagnie du Cercle has a permanent staff of two, and employs about twenty people who are on short-term artists' contracts. Abbi Patrix Artistic Director Véronique Bourlon Administration / Production Manager Candice Feger Distribution and Public Relation Sam Mary Technical Director Alexis Meier Sound Engineer		The Compagnie du Cercle : a company based on repertory A story-teller's strength is based on his repertory, a lively fund of stories that is always evolving, always connecting the strands of the present and the future within the same story. A company's strength is to create conditions enabling stories to be transmitted through space and time, for an ever-growing audience. This means a company's repertory is not limited to one production, but becomes more enriched as the productions come to exist : To the Ends of the World (2002), La petite fille Qui... (2004), The Companion (2005), and The Doors (2007). The crossover of disciplines Intent on developing his areas of expression, the story-teller quite naturally finds himself at a cross-roads with other disciplines, such as acting, singing, music and dance. The Compagnie du Cercle has always invited different artists to share the adventure of its original creations, where all kinds of different confrontation has been experimented. The last example of this to date La petite fille Qui... (2004), with the choreographer Pascale Houbin and the photographer Quentin Bertoux. A new adventure : collecting stories Fragments of Stories , in Evry : two years spent collecting life-stories in a new town, accompanied by photographs : a production performed at the Théâtre de l'Agora in Evry, and a book of texts and photos published privately, describing the project. Fragments of Stories was also the beginning of a new exploration, a new artistic development for the company : using the words of today, urban tales, language that bears witness to the oral richness contained in our cities and lives. Since this project was produced, the Compagnie du Cercle has regularly been invited to undertake the collecting of life-stories in other towns. We are also responding to an invitation from L'apostrophe, the National Theatre of Cergy-Pontoise, and organizing a project spanning twelve towns of an urban community, the TransOral Express, an artistic endeavour that will take place over severals years, and include many participants. Experimenting with collective pieces As well as their productions on stage, the Compagnie du Cercle now invests public spaces, inventing collective projects for outdoor performances. In parcs, in public gardens… As demand grows, artistic groups are forming, directed by Abbi Patrix, made up of story-tellers, but also of different artists, like in the project The Garden of Origins (2006), with actors from the Théâtre du Mouvement. Repertory, a crossing of disciplines, collecting stories, and collective creativity : These are the fundamental directions that compose and will give life to the company for the years ahead, always at the service of a renewed art form : story-telling. The Compagnie du Cercle is subsidized by the Ministry of Culture - DRAC Ile-de-France - and the Conseil General of Val de Marne. Currently it is run from La Maison du Conte at Chevilly-Larue (Val de Marne County).
